COVID-19 vaccine

A total of 7,556 COVID-19 cases were reported in Turkey between June 6 and 12, the Health Ministry said in its weekly coronavirus statistics. 

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca had previously announced that the ministry would stop publishing daily statistics after the number of cases started to decline.

Brussels/Ljubljana – Ten EU member states, including Slovenia, have called on the European Commission to amend contracts for the supply of Covid vaccines to reduce the number of doses ordered. They warn about the issue of vaccine surpluses and the need for a better management of public funds.

As of Sunday, May 1, the anti-epidemic measures for those arriving in Bulgaria from other countries will be lifted, the Ministry of Health announced.

"We are going back to our old days when measures or curbs did not exist," Koca said on April 25.

The new cases of infection with COVID-19 in Bulgaria for the last 24 hours are 354 with 3989 tests performed, according to data from the Unified Information Portal.

There are 7 deaths, 907 patients are in hospitals, of which 105 are in intensive care units.

Another 669 people have been infected with coronavirus in Bulgaria in the last 24 hours, according to the Unified Information Portal. Of these, 65.47 percent have not been vaccinated.

The cases yesterday were 895.

Six people died, and 83.33 percent of those who died were not vaccinated.

"Leading experts from around the world warn that there may be a new Covid wave in the fall. Whether this happens or not, we have a duty to do everything we can for vulnerable groups to be vaccinated." This was stated by the Minister of Health Prof. Asena Serbezova during the opening of a program of the Bulgarian Red Cross to expand the vaccination scope in the country.

After two years of competing for vaccination against covid in the world, the number of available vaccines is already exceeding their demand. However, there remains a huge difference in vaccination levels between the richest and poorest countries, writes AFP.
