Italian woman found dead in the sea in Ierapetra
The body of a 67-year-old woman from Italy was found by swimmers floating in the sea off the coast of Ierapetra, in southeastern Crete, on Monday.
The woman, who was holidaying on the island, was pulled out of the sea by bathers, unconscious.
Doctors in the hospital of Ierapetra where she was rushed confirmed her death. The cause of death is not yet known.

Wehrmacht excavations on occupied Crete
In 2010, Greek archaeologist Dr Georgia Flouda traveled to Austria in search of traces of Wehrmacht activity during World War II and its research on antiquities on occupied Crete. There, she met Gerlinde Schoergendorfer, widow of officer and archaeologist August Schoergendorfer, who worked for the occupying forces.

70 migrants detained off Greek island of Crete
Authorities on Greece's island of Crete say 70 migrants have been removed from a yacht and detained after entering Greek waters.
The migrants, including 20 children, were being taken Tuesday in three coast guard vessels to the port of Kissamos, on the western part of the island, officials from the Merchant Marine Ministry said.

Human remains found on Crete islet, may date from WWII
Bones that have been identified as human and may date to World War II were discovered on Sunday by a walking group on the islet of Aghios Theodoros off the coast of Hania in Crete.
Aegean Air founder Theodoros Vassilakis dies
Cretan entrepreneur Theodoros Vassilakis, the founder of Aegean Airlines, died on Thursday, aged 78. He was also the man behind car rental company Autohellas-Hertz and car retailer Autotechnica Velmar.

Ahead of the tourist season, large parts of southern Greece are faced with the prospect of water shortages this summer due to limited rainfall this past winter.
The drought-affected areas include the islands of Crete, the Cyclades and the southern Dodecanese, and the eastern Peloponnese.

Prince Charles and Camilla in Crete on last leg of official visit
On the third and last day of an official visit to Greece, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were on Crete on Friday.
The royal couple flew into the port of Irakleio on a private aircraft and were received by the Archbishop of Crete Irinaios, the regional governor Stavros Arnaoutakis and the Mayor of Irakleio Vasilis Lambrinos among other local officials.
