I watched ‘Narcos’ to learn about fight against drugs: Turkish Deputy PM

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Recep Akdağ joked that he watched the popular TV series “Narcos,” which portrays the life of Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar, to gain knowledge on the fight against drugs, as he commented on Turkey’s anti-narcotic efforts.

The Narcos series tells the story of Pablo and the drug cartels in Colombia. The production is one of the most successful of the online streaming platform. Roberto also wanted to forbid Netflix to shoot in Mexico and Colombia because the Escobar cartel still carries out its activities there.

Pope Francis on Sept. 9 visited Medellin, epicenter of Colombia's narco wars of the 1980s and asked that God convert the hearts of the "drug assassins" who cut short so many young lives. 

On his penultimate day in Colombia, Francis flew to Medellin, the city northwest of the capital that was once notorious as the stomping grounds of drug lord Pablo Escobar.
