Gunmen launched an attack at a hotel in Bamako, the capital of Mali, in an apparent attempt to take hostages on Friday.

The attackers targeted the Radisson Blu Hotel in the centre of the capital, which is popular with expats working in Mali.

The police has surrounded the area and is blocking the roads leading into the neighbourhood, the BBC informs.

Six Turkish Airlines staff members have been released while one remains hostage at the luxury Radisson Blu hotel in Mali's capital Bamako following a shooting rampage led by "jihadists," private broadcaster CNN Türk has reported. 

Seven Turkish Airlines personnel were among the 170 taken hostage in Mali. While six were released, one remains in captivity.

Hasna Ait Boulahcen, aged 26, detonated her explosive vest at Saint Denis on Wednesday, going down in history as the first female suicide terrorist operating in Europe. A video, obtained by the ABC, appears to have been shot from the building across the street where the explosion took place.

Bulgaria's Supreme Court of Cassation (VKS) has sentenced  the former director of heating utility Toplofikatsiya Sofia Valentin Dimitrov to three years' imprisonment.

Rulings by the VKS cannot be appealed. The court confirmed previous rulings that found him guilty of property mismanagement.

The body of the suspected mastermind of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, has been identified among those killed in a police raid, the prosecutor's office said Nov. 19.

A Belgian shepherd dog, called Diesel, was killed on Wednesday as one female suicide bomber blew herself out during a police shoot-out with a number of suspected terrorists, that may have included the lead plotter of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud.

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls warning on Thursday that terrorists could use chemical weapons and bacterial warfare sparked fear.

During a session in France’s lower house of parliament, Valls said:

“There is a risk of terrorists using chemical or bacteriological weapons.”

Amid gunfire and explosions, police raided a suburban Paris apartment where the suspected mastermind of last week's attacks was believed to be holed up Nov. 18. The siege ended with two deaths and seven arrests but no clear information on his fate.

Two suspected jihadists were killed, including a woman who blew herself up, in a shootout Nov. 18 in north Paris with police hunting the mastermind of last week's attacks on the French capital, sources said.
