Two officers injured, man arrested in Athens car chase 

Two officers of the DIAS motorcycle unit were injured during a car chase in central Athens early Thursday morning. 

Police said a patrol car crew spotted a vehicle moving on the wrong direction on Pipinou Street at around 2:15 in the morning, and signaled the driver to stop, but he sped off. A chase ensued, involving other police forces, including the DIAS team.

Blackmail suspects remanded

Six out of seven individuals who are accused of blackmailing shopkeepers in the southern suburbs of Athens were remanded in custody on Friday. 

A seventh defendant was conditionally released. All defendants denied accusations of belonging to a criminal gang, extortion, aggravated assault, damage to property and violation of the weapons law. 

27-year-old man detained for sexual assault of elderly woman on Patmos

A 27-year-old man was taken into custody on the island of Patmos on Friday following the sexual assault of a 70-year-old woman.

According to official reports, the incident occurred around 2.15 a.m. on Friday when a masked assailant forcefully entered the woman's home through an unlocked window. Armed with a small knife, he subjected her to physical and sexual assault.
