Justice Minister tells prosecutors to focus on recouping damages

Justice Minister Robert Cazanciuc on Tuesday said that the interest area in the prosecutors' activity for the coming period must also be that of recouping the damages created by committing an offense, both from the Ministry's and the international partners point of view.

USKOK Wants Croatia Mayor Back Behind Bars

Croatia's Office for suppression of corruption and organized crime, USKOK, on Tuesday called for Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic to be taken back into custody until investigations into his alleged crimes are complete.

Bandic - currently on bail - is accused of using his period at liberty to influence a witness in his upcoming trial, forge documents and undermine the judicial process.

Top judicial body replaces seven rapporteurs at Turkey's top court

Turkey?s top judicial body has initiated a minor purge in the judiciary, replacing 27 judges and prosecutors, including seven rapporteurs at the Constitutional Court.

A decree replacing 27 judges and prosecutors at judicial and administrative courts was released by the 1st Chamber of the Supreme Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) late on March 5.

Justice Minister Robert Cazanciuc on Friday made an appeal to all prosecutors who believe they have the necessary experience, integrity and maturity to register in the selection for the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) head.

Bosnia Police Arrest Suspect For Attorney's Murder

Bosnian police have arrested a suspect for the murder of Jasmina Koricic, a 61-year-old lawyer who was killed in a bomb blast in the northwestern town of Bihac.

The suspect was named only as B.M., a male born in 1957, from nearby Cazin, Una-Sana Canton Interior Ministry spokesman Ale Siljdedic told Balkan Insight on Wednesday.
