Gang arrested after carrying out at least 72 sneak burglaries
A gang suspected of burgling at least 72 homes in different parts of the Greek capital since last February has been broken up by the Greek police with the arrest of 15 suspects, the force said in an announcement on Tuesday.
According to investigators, the gang is believed to have made off with cash and valuables worth an estimated 1 million euros in the past year.
Man arrested for firing gun on NYE
A 29-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly firing a gun on NYE and shattering a neighboring window.
The shell and the gun, which the man legally possessed, have been confiscated and will undergo forensic examination.
The man is expected to be led before a prosecutor.

Prison population declines by over 8 pct in Turkey
The population of prisons in Turkey has decreased by 8.5 percent to some 266,831 as of Dec. 31, 2020, compared to the same day of 2019, figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) show.
"A total of 96 percent of the inmates are males, leaving with just 4 percent female prisoners," TÜİK said in a statement on Nov. 2.
