Anti-fur activists protest fashion week
Animal activists have fashion brands squarely in their sights this Milan Fashion Week, hoping to pressure Italian brands Max Mara and Fendi to give up fur in future collections.
An activist from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) stormed the Fendi runway on Wednesday brandishing a sign saying, "Animals are NOT clothing."

Fox killed and hung from tree on Kefalonia
Shocking images of animal cruelty have emerged from the island of Kefalonia, where an unknown perpetrator killed a fox, strapped it to two pieces of wood shaped like a crucifix and then hung it from a tree near a main road.
The gruesome spectacle was spotted by a local resident, who published photographs of it on social media.

Brutal dog abuse leads to Supreme Court intervention
Supreme Court deputy prosecutor Anastasia Masoura intervened on Monday in an animal torture case, in which a pet dog died after abuse in the mountain town of Arachova, Boeotia.
Masoura instructed an urgent preliminary investigation to identify the perpetrator.
Senior nabbed for dog abuse
A man was arrested in Xylokastro, Corinthia, in the Peloponnese, on Friday for tying his pet dog to his pickup truck then dragging the animal along a road as he drove the vehicle.

The images from Alexandroupoli in northern Greece, where a wildfire had been raging for the fourth day, along with other affected areas, were really terrifying. Man arrested in Zakynthos for dragging dog behind car
A 75-year-old man was arrested on the island of Zakynthos on Wednesday night for dragging a dog behind his vehicle.
Police officers to undergo training in animal rights issues
A program to train at least one police officer in every police station in the country in animal rights issues will begin on Wednesday.
The officers will be trained to deal with cases related to animal abuse, be they strays, pets, working or game animals, exotic species and others, the police said.
Police remove animal rights protestors from Easter procession
Police in central Athens removed animal rights activists from Syntagma Square as the Good Friday candlelit Epitaphios (funerary) procession was taking place.
As the procession entered the square, a small group of activists approached the clerics and held placards stating "There is no excuse for animal abuse" and chanted slogans "against the slaughter of animals".
