Romanian Ilinca Pantis (CS Riposta) won the bronze medal in the women's sabre event on Thursday at the Cadet and Junior European Fencing Championships in Porec (Croatia).
The Romanian athlete Cristina Simion with the CSA Steaua, has won on Saturday the gold medal at the World Mountain Running Championships of the Villa La Angostura (Argentina), according to the Romanian Athletics Federation (FRA) website. Cristina Simion finished first the 41.05 kilometers in 3h 49min 57sec, thus outrunning the French athletes Adeline Roche and Blandine L'Hirondel.
CSA Steaua Bucharest ranked third at the Europe Cup Foil Fencing Women, a competition held on Monday in the ''Ana Pascu'' Hall in Bucharest. CSA Steaua, made up of Maria Boldor, Malina Calugareanu, Andreea Gheorghe and Anca Seanu, was defeated in the semifinals by the Spanish team Cardenal Cisneros Club 45-43.
Romanian pugilist Robert Jitaru (aged 22) won on Sunday the gold medal in the men's 56-kg category at the European Boxing Championships Under-22 in Targu Jiu, after having previously won the title last year in Braila.
Romania's medal tally at the European Championships in Targu Jiu has thus risen to 4, namely one gold, two silver and one bronze.
Steaua Bucharest has managed to gain the Romanian Cup in football, on Sunday evening, on the National Arena of Bucharest, winning 3-0 (1-0) in the final against Universitatea Cluj and succeeding in writing history, being the first team to win the championship, the League Cup (official since 2014), and the Romanian Cup.
Steaua Bucharest has narrowly conquered its third consecutive Romanian champion title on Thursday evening after a goalless draw in its away match with CSMS Iasi, while Targu Mures hopefuls, ASA, were defeated on their home grounds by relegating Otelul Galati by 2-1 (0-1), in the 34th and final leg of the top-tier division Liga I.
