Turkey to start easing strict coronavirus lockdown tomorrow

The normalization stage began on May 17 and will continue until June 1, the country's Interior Ministry said on May 16.

Turkey imposed the full lockdown, which began on April 29, after the number of daily COVID-19 cases climbed to above 60,000 and the deaths from the outbreak also reached record highs.

Curfew violations continue amid full lockdown

People last week continued to violate Turkey's curfew rules after the country entered a full lockdown that will last for 17 days.

Some 66,161 people broke curfew rules between April 26 and May 3, the country's Interior Ministry said on May 3.

The ministry, however, stressed that a majority of citizens obeyed the lockdown which came into effect on the evening of April 29.

Turkey announces three-day holiday curfew

As a measure to stem the spread of COVID-19, Turkey has announced a nationwide curfew starting on April 22 evening until April 26 morning.

The three-day curfew from 7 p.m. on April 22 until 5 a.m. on April 26 will cover the National Sovereignty and Children's Day holiday as well as the weekend, according to a circular issued by the Interior Ministry.
