The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is establishing a special forces squad for tax and customs audits.

The new large prosecution unit will take over the control of smuggling and tax evasion, with tax and customs officers working directly together, with the assistance of the AADE business chamber.

A significant operation led by the State Agency for National Security (DANS) and the Anti-Corruption Commission is currently underway across Sofia and the country. The operation is a component of a probe into acts of official misconduct and bribery.

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met with World Customs Organisation (WCO) Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya on Wednesday to discuss advancement of the work of the customs administration, digitalisation, modernisation and strengthening of staff capacities, the Serbian government's press service said in a statement.

Customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint found more than 500,000 pieces of contraband cigarettes in wooden panels in a truck with Turkish registration, the Customs Agency announced. The disclosure took place on September 27 at around 8:50 p.m.
