US Considers Dropping Charges Against Julian Assange

The United States is contemplating dropping charges against Julian Assange, as confirmed by President Joe Biden, who stated that he is considering the request. Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, is currently in custody in Great Britain, awaiting a decision on whether he will be extradited to the United States.

Athens journalists’ union grants honorary membership to Assange

The Athens Daily Newspaper Journalists' Union (ESIEA) has granted honorary membership to journalist and Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange, it announced on Thursday.

The union is participating in an initiative of the Italian journalists union FNSI, which has been adopted by the European Federation of Journalists, an affiliate of the International Federation of Journalists.

Statue honoring Bitcoin founder unveiled in Budapest

Hungarian bitcoin enthusiasts unveiled a statue in Budapest which they say is the first in the world to honor Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic inventor of the virtual currency. 

The bronze bust is of a hooded figure, in an allusion to the fact that the true identity of Nakamoto, a pseudonym, is unknown.

On February 5, Montenegro's Appeal Court annulled the first-instance verdicts in the trial, asking the Higher Court to stage a retrial in the case that the opposition had claimed was politically motivated. The court said it revoked the first-instance verdict because of procedural errors.
