It is difficult to grow up on an island. It is even more difficult if that island is a bi-communal one and you belong to the numerically smaller community. Well, I would not say "minority," as we Turkish Cypriots hate that word. Nowhere else in the world, perhaps, does a father or mother celebrate when, for the first time, their kid "rebels" and serves a "nice kick" to either of them.

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras arrived on Cyprus on Tuesday ahead of his official talks with the island republic’s leadership on Wednesday. In fact, Tsipras was shown touring the island capital on Tuesday night accompanied by Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, with photo Tweeted by the Cypriot leader himself.

Nicosia raises 1 bln euros in second post-bailout issue

Cyprus?s finance minister said on Tuesday the country has raised 1 billion euros from international markets with its second public bond issue since its painful bailout two years ago.

Harris Georgiades stated the seven-year bonds were nearly twice oversubscribed and carried a 4 percent interest rate.

Presidents of Two Cypriot Republics to Meet, Revive Reconciliation

The President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and his newly elected Turkish Cypriot counterpart Mustafa Akinci will meet on Saturday in attempt to revive talks on possible reconciliation.

It is expected that the two presidents will discuss the resumption of negotiations ahead of a new round of UN-mediated talks on reunification of the divided island.
