Bulgaria Celebrates Day of Education, Culture, Slavonic Alphabet
Bulgaria is celebrating on Tuesday the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slavonic Alphabet. Also known as Saints Cyril and Methodius' Day, May 24 commemorates the deed of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the two brothers who are credited with founding the Slavonic alphabet in the ninth century.
Repairs To Be Made to Bulgaria's National Library
Urgent repairs will be made to the National Library St. St. Cyril and Methodius, stated in an interview for bTV interim Culture Minister Rashko Mladenov.
Part of the ceiling of the library collapsed on Friday under the weight of melting snow and injured a reader.

Logo of Bulgaria's EU Presidency Selected
Outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva presented the logo of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2018.
The author of the logo is Todor Angeliev. The logo includes three elements - the Cyrillic alphabet, the traditional Bulgarian embroidery and the Bulgarian flag.

Bulgarian Architect Shoots Documentary on Glagolitic Script
A Bulgarian architect has made a documentary about the Glagolitic alphabet, the oldest known Slavic alphabet, daily 24 reports.
Plamen Miryanov, 27, has shot the film inside a derelict church in northwestern Bulgaria and the Prohodna cave in Stara Planina.
Bulgaria Allocates BGN 0.25 M to Building of First Capital's Basilica
The works to erect the Great Basilica in Pliska, the first capital of the first Bulgarian state founded in Southeast Europe, will receive additional funding, the government has decided.
The cabinet has thus increased the overall budget for construction to BGN 1.5 M in public money.

CoE urges Croatia to comply with European languages charter
The Council of Europe (CoE) has expressed regret over the decision by Vukovar City Council to change the city's statute and ban the use of bilingual signs.
These signs are written in both Croatian Latin and Serbian Cyrillic scripts and placed on public institutions, squares and streets.
