Cyta lands smart meter tender of EAC
The Board of Directors of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has granted the contract for 400,000 smart electricity meters to telecommunications market leader Cyta, following pressure from the Energy Regulatory Authority and in compliance with European Union Recovery Mechanism obligations.

Cyprus: Second cell phone antenna torched despite no 5G plans
Cyprus' telecoms authority said on Tuesday unknown arsonists have torched a second mobile telephone antenna despite government efforts to quell "groundless" fears that it's moving to install a 5G antenna network.
Vodafone to acquire Cyta Hellas
The National Commission for Telecommunications and Post (EETT) convened on Thursday and, according to sources, has decided to issue its approval for the acquisition of Cyta telecom's Greek subsidiary by Vodafone.
This decision paves the way for the merger of the two Greek companies, thereby reducing the number of local market players from five to four.

Vodafone confirms Cyta Hellas acquisition
Vodafone announced on Tuesday it had agreed to buy Athens-based Cyta Telecommunications Hellas SA for 118 million euros to expand its fixed line network in Greece.

Vodafone wins tender for the acquisition of Cyta Hellas
Vodafone is the preferred bidder for the sale of 100 percent of Cyta Hellas, parent company Cyprus Telecommunications Authority announced on Friday. The contract for the transaction could possibly be signed even before the first round of the Cypriot presidential elections on January 28.
Wind is the favorite to acquire Cyta Hellas
Two companies appear to remain interested in the sale of Cyta's Greek arm. Rival telecommunication service providers Vodafone and Wind Hellas have confirmed their participation in the tender for Cyta Hellas with the submission of binding offers.

Cyta calls for suitors for its Greek arm
Cyprus's telecoms authority (Cyta) announced on Tuesday the rapid sale of its subsidiary in Greece, Cyta Hellas, inviting any parties interested in acquiring 100 percent of the company to come forward by September 27. Although the deadline might change, it points to the parent company's eagerness to proceed quickly.

Nicosia to persist with Cyta privatization effort
Cyprus will try again to push through the sale of a minority stake in state telecommunications company Cyta, Finance Minister Harris Georgiades said on Monday.
"We are finding it difficult [to privatize Cyta]..." Georgiades said at an event at the London School of Economics. "But we will have another go."
