Bejart's ‘Magic Flute’ | Athens | December 25-30

The world-renowned Bejart Ballet Lausanne returns to the Athens Concert Hall with Maurice Bejart's "Magic Flute," which is being staged in Greece for the first time. In his take on the famous Mozart opera, the legendary French-born choreographer juxtaposed the innocence of childhood with the structured rigidity of the adult world. Shows start at 8 p.m.

GNO Dance School Showcase | Athens | July 12

Meet the next generation of dancers, as students from the Greek National Opera's dance school perform self-choreographed and classical works at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC). Under the leadership of Yannis Dontsakis, the school offers courses in classical ballet, modern and contemporary dance, pas de deux, dance theory, choreography and more.

Michael Flatley | Athens | June 19

Celebrated Irish-American Lord of the Dance choreographer Michael Flatley will be making a stop at the Faliro Indoor Arena in Athens on Wednesday, June 19, with the production "Dangerous Games." The Lord of the Dance ensemble made its first appearance in 1996 and has since performed to more than 80 million people in 100 countries.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) and the Greek National Opera celebrate International Dance Day on April 29 early with an all-day program of events dedicated to this wonderful art form. Performances, parties and classes will cover the range of genres, from tap, tango and breakdance to Greek folk dances. The admission-free event starts at 10 a.m.

Tango Lovers Festival | Athens | January 31 - February 4

Acclaimed dance ensembles from around the world, as well as local acts, come together in the Greek capital for a five-day celebration of one of the most popular dance genres in the world. The Tango Lovers Festival is spread out over three venues and, apart from displays, also includes workshops and parties.
