Renovation of landmark Acropole Palace under way
The interior of the Acropole Palace, a former hotel and now the property of the Culture Ministry, is seen Tuesday as renovation work on the building got under way. Works on the building, which is situated at the junction of Patission and Averoff streets near central Athens, are expected to finish in two months' time.

Ancient furnaces unearthed at 'home of tiles' İznik
The remains of two tile furnaces have been found in archaeological excavations in İznik, known as a historic center of tile production in the northwestern Turkish province of Bursa.
Officials have initiated work to unearth the furnaces, which date back to the 14th and 17th centuries.

Ottoman antiques showcased in Sotheby's Middle East art auction
Sotheby's is staging what it calls its most comprehensive series of exhibitions and sales to cover the history of Middle Eastern art.

Ancient mosaic symbolizes life and luxury
A mosaic that has been unearthed during excavations in the ancient city of Olba in the southern province of Mersin's Silifke district has been removed in 16 different panels and placed under protection.
According to a statement made by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, the mosaic was found by a Gazi University team headed by Professor Ay?e Emel Erten.
