Former SYRIZA transport minister seeks lifting of his own immunity over rail crash

Former transport and infrastructure minister Christos Spirtzis, who served under SYRIZA from 2016 to 2019, is demanding that his immunity from prosecution be lifted in relation to the ongoing investigations into the deadly train crash in Tempe last year, which cost the lives of 57 people.

Two police officers under scrutiny for online posting

Two police officers in Attica are accused of forgery and defamation related to an online posting of a fake order attributed to a senior police official, the Civil Protection Ministry said on Wednesday. 

The senior officer became aware of the online post and issued a complaint on Tuesday, after which the two officers voluntarily appeared before the Internal Affairs Department.

Man arrested for revenge porn

A 47-year-old man accused of so-called revenge porn has been arrested by police in Thessaloniki after he is alleged to have posted a large number of explicit photos of a 44-year-old woman on his social media profile.

The man, who was arrested in a hotel, told officers that he had consumed a quantity of pesticide, necessitating his hospitalization. He remains in hospital under guard.
