Turkish contractors were awarded a total of 110 projects worth $7.5 billion abroad in the first six months this year, the Trade Ministry has said.

This marked a 63 percent increase compared with the January-June period of 2022.

The average size of the contracts awarded to Turkish contractors in foreign countries was $68.1 billion, data from the ministry showed.

According to the newspaper's source, this task force is in charge of applying sanctions to the Russian security sector and those who cooperate with it.

Russia will start delivering its S-400 missile defense systems to Turkey in July, Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport head Alexander Mikheev said April 24, according to Interfax news agency.

Turkey and Russia on Dec. 29 sealed a loan agreement for the purchase of the S-400 anti-missile system worth $2.5 billion.

Russia is hopeful that the new weapons it tested for the first time in Syria will lead to a spike in arms sales abroad, officials have said.

Turkey's exports soared over 31 percent annually to reach nearly $11.5 billion in July; the highest growth rate in the last six years, a leading sector association announced on Aug. 1.

A failed coup last July hit the country's exports in a steep manner.

The United States and Europe were Turkey's top destinations for military exports last year with sales worth $585 million and $450 million, respectively, as the Turkish industry grew by over 20 percent last year, according to a defense industry report late on June 13.
