Air seat availability from the US soars 27% this year

Airlines have increased their available air seats for travel to Greece this summer by 10.1% from last year, anticipating strong demand.

Among the four major markets from which Greece attracts visitors, the United States stands out with a 27.2% increase in available air seats, to 613,200 seats for the March-October period.

Greece heading for another record year in tourism

The momentum of airline reservations, i.e. the tickets that have already been sold as well as the airline seats planned by the airlines for Greece this season, point to an increase in tourism arrivals of up to 10% this year compared to the all-time high recorded in 2023

This is provided there are no unforeseeable domestic or international events.

Delta to close condensed milk factory in central Macedonia

The production of Vlachas condensed milk, one of the country's most popular, will cease in Greece after the decision by local company Delta Foods to shut down the condensed milk factory at Platy in Imathia, central Macedonia. Delta decided that the unit's operation is no longer profitable.

Delta Air Lines resumes Athens to New York flights service

Delta Air Lines restarts nonstop flights service from Athens to New York effective April 5, 2016.

The U.S. airline marks its 25th anniversary of service to Greece this year and has transported more than 1.5 million passengers between Athens and the United States since its first flight on November 1, 1991.

Delta Airlines, United Airlines and American Airlines will operate a connection from Athens to New York during the summer of 2016. Alternate Tourism Minister Eleni Kountoura announced that these new flights are to take place, while also revealing that she had proposed that Aegean Airlines link Greece to North America so that a reliable Greek airline reactivates the line.

 

Delta Airlines doubles flights to Athens in summer 2016

Delta Airlines announced the doubling of its flights to Athens next summer from its New York City hub at John F. Kennedy airport. Flights will begin from March 27, 2016, starting at five times per week and increasing to a daily service from May 24. An additional flight will be added from May 27, 2016, to operate on a daily basis.
