Bulgarian Cartoonists Launch New Satirical Newspaper amid Election Campaign

The first edition of Pras-Press, a new satirical newspaper, will be out in Bulgaria on March 01, Wednesday, one of the project's main driving forces has said.

At just BGN 0.99, the newspaper will appear several days into the election campaign that began last week.

Sofia residents staged a demonstration in front of the Romanian Embassy on Sunday to show their solidarity with Romanian protesters.

The competition watchdog of Bulgaria has given the green light for a Dubai-registered offshore company to acquire consumer electronics retailer Technomarket.

TGI Middle East FZE is also the entity which several months ago bought a stake in Bulgarian tobacco holding Bulgartabac, purchasing shares from controversial MP Delyan Peevski and Italian businessman Edoardo Miroglio.

Leaked Recording Brings Up Claims of Bulgaria PM's Relations with Controversial MP

The Bulgarian government is not commenting on claims heard in a wiretapped conversation of a former judiciary official with a dismissed judge as the latest leaks of so-called Yanevagate were released this week.

The conversation involves former Sofia City Court head Vladimira Yaneva, dismissed judge Rumyana Chenalova, and lawyer Momchil Mondeshki who is allegedly close to Yaneva.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski has said it was he who asked the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) party to endorse him.

Oresharski, whose tenure is associated with nationwide protests and the collapse of Bulgaria's fourth-largest lender, is running has an independent in the November 06 presidential elections.
