The Kosovo assembly has postponed a sitting on constitutional amendments that would allow for a special war crimes court for the former KLA to be formed.

The decision came at the request of Hashim Thaci's Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), it was announced in Pristina on Friday.

Two former senior members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Sami Lushtaku and Sylejman Selimi, were convicted of crimes against civilians during the 1998-99 conflict.

The Central Election Commission on Thursday announced its final tally which closely resembled the preliminary figures from the June 8 national polls that gave the lead to Hashim Thaci’s ruling Democratic Party of Kosovo, PDK.

Amid simmering political tensions in Kosovo, the presidency announced on Thursday that Jahjaga had addressed the court for advice to “clarify the constitutional action of the president” in nominating a new prime minister, who will then form the next government.

The ruling Democratic Party of Kosovo, PDK, and the recently established coalition between the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, AAK, the Democratic League of Kosovo, LDK and Nisma per Kosoven [Initiative for Kosovo] are still at loggerheads over who has the right to form a new government.
