Birth rate declining in Turkey: Report
A recent report by Turkey's statistical authority has revealed a trend of declining birth rates in the country.
Nearly 1.12 million new births were registered in 2020, down from 1.18 million the year before, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced on May 18.
According to TÜİK, 51.3 percent of babies born last year were boys, while 48.7 percent were girls.

The rate of infant deaths across Turkey was 9.3 per thousand live births in 2018, the Turkish Statistical Authority (TÜİK) has said.

The southeastern border province of Kilis is home to the largest percentage of Syrian migrants in Turkey, according to figures released by the Turkish Interior Ministry's Directorate General of Migration Management.
The ministry said some 95.15 percent of Kilis' population is made up of Syrian migrants.
