Investment tycoon Warren Buffett has said that messaging from the U.S. government over the regional banking crisis had been "poor," suggesting that is why confidence has not returned among consumers.    

Regulators seized troubled First Republic Bank and sold all of its deposits and most of its assets to JPMorgan Chase Bank in a bid to head off further banking turmoil in the U.S.

A group of mid-sized US banks has called on US federal regulators to guarantee all their customers' deposits for 2 years, even if they are above the guaranteed deposit limit of up to 250,000 dollars. The aim is to avoid the "phenomenon of contagion" after the bankruptcy of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), reports "Bloomberg", quoted by AFP and BTA.

It was called Silicon Valley Bank, but its collapse is causing shockwaves around the world.

In a move that sent global banking shares into turmoil, US regulators on Friday shut down Silicon Valley Bank, as markets fretted over possible contagion from the biggest banking failure since the 2008 financial crisis.

Ljubljana – Slovenian banks generated a cumulative after-tax profit of EUR 226.4 million in the first half of the year, an increase of 84% compared with the same period last year that the central bank says is the product of a release of impairments and provisions.

Ljubljana – NLB, the largest bank in Slovenia, will phase in fees for combined deposits by physical persons of over EUR 250,000 as of April. The monthly fee will amount to 0.04% and will be first charged in May, the bank said in a press release on Tuesday.

Turkey's state-run lender Halkbank has sold nonperforming loans worth 76.7 million Turkish Liras (about $12.5 million) for 4.5 million liras (about $732,940) to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF).
