MIT professor upbeat on virus outlook
As Greece enters the fourth phase of easing restrictions that were imposed in March to stem the spread of the new coronavirus, an eminent Greek professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Dimitris Bertsimas, has developed an epidemiological model that suggests Greece is unlikely to see a significant increase in Covid-19 cases over the summer.

Kremastinos, former health minister, dies aged 78 of coronavirus
Former health minister and respected cardiothoracic surgeon Dimitris Kremastinos has died aged 78 after contracting coronavirus.
Kremastinos had been admitted into Athens' Evangelismos hospital with medical complications related to Covid-19 on March 26.

Tapping the markets would make sense, say experts
Greece's bond yields have eased from a year-high recorded in March, but remain above the all-time lows posted earlier this year.
In its latest weekly bulletin, the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) went as far as calling for an immediate market foray, before other bigger countries do so, with an impact on yields.

The class dimensions of a virus
There is a social class dimension to the way the new coronavirus is affecting the population, and by that of course I do not mean the indirect revanchism of MEP Dimitris Papadimoulis, of the main opposition SYRIZA party, who almost celebrated the fact that the outbreak in our country started from a woman who returned from a trip to Milan and a student in a private school in Athens.

Ikastikos Kiklos DL in downtown Athens presents a retrospective exhibition on internationally renowned Greek painter Dimitris Yeros. Covid-19 cases in Greece jump to 31; Amaliada region enters Phase 2 of containment
The total number of the new coronavirus cases in Greece has risen to 31, after 21 more people who came in contact with the country's ninth confirmed case tested positive, Greek Health Ministry spokesman Dimitris Tsiodras said in press briefing on Thursday.
Damning claims made against former minister
Testifying before the Parliament committee probing the handling of the Novartis case by the previous government, Greek-Israeli businessman Sabby Mionis accused former alternate justice minister Dimitris Papangelopoulos, the publisher of the Dimokratia newspaper, Ioannis Filippakis, and two journalists of blackmail in 2016.

Police searches for protected witness who failed to show up for parliamentary committee hearing
The head of the parliamentary committee investigating the case of former cabinet minister Dimitris Papangelopoulos has asked for the forced presence of the hitherto protected witness known by the name Maximos Sarafis as he failed to present himself on Tuesday afternoon at the hearing scheduled at the Athens police headquarters.
