At a meeting of Kosovo's Central Election Commission on Tuesday, Vetevendosje refused to vote in favour of certifying candidates from the Srpska Lista party to run in the May 19 polls, arguing that three of them had breached the constitution by resigning as mayors of the same municipalities in which they want to run for office again.

Greek students holding placards and shouting slogans take part in a "youth strike to act on climate change" demonstration in front of Parliament in Athens, Friday. Thousands of students around the globe, mobilized by word of mouth and social media, skipped class to demonstrate the failure of political elites to take action against global warming.

Dozens of students in Athens, Thessaloniki and other Greek cities on Friday gathered at central points to call for action against climate change, joining their voices to a global movement called #fridaysforfuture.

At the trial of ten suspected members of 'People's Eye' on Friday, Hashim Thaci accused the leader of Kosovo's main opposition party Vetevendosje, Albin Kurti, and one of its MPs, Glauk Konjufca, of being behind the organisation.

A roundtable organised on Wednesday in Kosovo by BIRN Kosovo's show "Jeta ne Kosove" heard local politicians warn that a territorial swap between Serbia and Kosovo could worsen regional instability.

Kosovo civil society group Protestoj [I Protest] has called for a protest on September 5 against President Hashim Thaci, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and the speaker of parliament, Kadri Veseli.

Kosovo opposition parties have said Hashim Thaci is the wrong person to lead the dialogue with Serbia after the Kosovo President called on all political parties, including the opposition, to attend a joint meeting aiming to establish a negotiation team.

The Mayor of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti, on Wednesday became the new leader of the Social Democratic Party, PSD, which he and a number of other MPs joined after leaving the main opposition Vetevendosje party.
