ANDPDCA: 657 infected persons in social assistance system; 122 deaths
Bucharest, May 16 /Agerpres/ - The National Authority for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Children and Adoptions (ANDPDCA) informs that, in the period March 10 - May 14 (end of state of emergency), 657 persons in the social assistance system were infected with the novel coronavirus, 122 elderly persons and adults with disabilities dying.

'Seniors' curfew aided Turkey's fight against pandemic'
Turkey has its elders to thank for abiding orders to stay home and thus making the COVID-19 pandemic manageable, the head of a seniors' advocacy group told Hürriyet Daily News.
But there is need for more cooperation and coordination among government, local administrations and civil society to make their lives easier, according to Gülüstü Salur.

A nationwide campaign has been launched to highlight the needs of the disabled who are stranded at home, to record the problems they face and will continue to as long as the pandemic lasts, and to provide assistance to them.

Historical buildings, bridges, and towers in Turkey will be lit in blue today to mark World Autism Awareness Day.

In 2018, about 28.7% of the EU population with a disability (aged 16 or over) was at risk of poverty or social exclusion, compared with 19.2% of those with no limitation, Eurostat data show.
There are significant differences across Member States, yet in all of them people with a disability are more exposed to the risk of poverty and social exclusion than those with none.
