Country not ready for big tremor: Parliamentary report

The parliamentary report prepared on the devastating Feb. 6 earthquakes has revealed that the country "was not ready for a big tremor," urging the authorities to enact a roof law on disasters.

"Disasters experienced in the past have shown that our country was not ready for disaster and was also inadequate in the intervention and recovery stages," the parliamentary report stated.

Calligraphers hold auction for quake victims

Turkish calligraphers have sold 71 works and collected some 2 million Turkish Liras (over $100,000) within the scope of an auction they organized for people affected by the Feb. 6 earthquakes, donating the proceeds to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

The auction, organized by Calligraphy Art Atelier, was broadcast live on social media.

AFAD volunteers draw pictures on village school’s walls

Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) volunteers have drawn cartoon characters on the walls of a village school in the eastern province of Erzurum.

Some 15 AFAD volunteers have worked for community service since the earthquakes which occurred in Erzurum in June 2020 and in November 2021.
