A NATO helicopter made an emergency landing at Zakynthos airport on Sunday night due to a mechanical problem.

The helicopter, carrying British soldiers, was flying from Italy to NATO’s naval base at Souda Bay, Crete.

None of the passengers was injured.

Airports in Bulgaria have handled a record number of almost 7 M international flight passengers in 2013 which is a 4% growth compared to previous year.

However, the industry still has many problems that need solving, according to Bulgarian Airline Association head Svetoslav Stanulov.

A 4.5 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale shook Romania's Vrancea region in the early hours of Monday.

The earthquake was registered at 2:23 AM at a depth of 104 km, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre. The epicenter is 157 km north of the capital Bucharest.

While parts of northern Europe endure their wettest winter since records began,  authorities in the Kosovo capital, Pristina, say they must continue curbing the water supply following a winter drought.

Gjelosh Vataj, from the Regional Water Company, said the local Batllava lake reservoir had lost a couple more centimetres in only 24 hours.

BELGRADE - The Republic of Serbia has sent Slovenia, in which the emergency situation is in force, five high-capacity generators in an effort to assist citizens in the areas most affected by severe weather conditions.

According to the Monday release of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior (MUP), the assistance was sent via the Serbian emergency situations department.
