Districts of Sofia

Residents of three districts in Sofia (Krasna Polyana, Zapaden Park and Ovcha Kupel) on 11th of December protested against poor air quality. The protesters gathered in front of the Ministry of Environment and Water, reports BNT. 

Five kilometers from the third subway line are expected to be completed in 2019, according to the financial statement of Sofia Municipality. Mayor Yordanka Fandakova presented the draft budget of the Municipality, which plans to repair part of Bulgaria Boulevard and other major road links.

On 4th of December the ticket for all public transport lines will cost 1 leva, due to the high levels of fine particulate matter in the air in Sofia. The measure "green ticket" is introduced by the municipality, after the levels of the main pollutant in Sofia reached 7 times the norm according to the official data. High values ​​of fine particles were found in 16 other cities in Bulgaria.

By the end of this year, the Sofia City Council will choose neighborhoods and settlements around Sofia to replace or build plumbing and sewerage, with a total project amount of 500 million leva. To this end, the municipality will apply for BGN 400 mln under the Operational Program "Environment" 2014-2020 and the remaining BGN 100 mln will allocate from its budget, Dnevnik reported.

Special containers for textile waste will be available in all areas of Sofia. They will be closed in a way that prevents the removal of old clothes.

The main purpose of them is to reduce the burning of textile waste and improving air quality in the capital. 

Currently, 12 waste streams are collected in Sofia, including paper, plastic, glass, metal, green and bio wastes, etc.

From 1st of November, the green area for paid parking in Sofia will be extended by additional 5,500 spaces. The extension of the zone is made at the request of the citizens and is expected to ease parking, reports BNT. 

Due to the replacement of the water shut-off tap in Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi blvd., water supply will be temporarily suspended to the area of Mardid blvd.; Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi Blvd, Danail Nikolaev Blvd. and Poduene railway station in Sofia from midnight to 6.00 a.m. on 5th of October, reports BNT. 

Since the launch of night city transport in Sofia, from April 7 until September 26, 73,389 travel tickets have been sold. The most used from the four lines are Line 2 - Obelya-Studentski grad and Line 1 - from Lyulin to Mladost. This is understood by the answers of the Urban Mobility Center, quoted by Dnevnik on Friday.

From August 20th to August 29th, there will be no hot water in part of the center of Sofia as well as in the Zona B-5, Zona B-18, Zona B-19, Sveta Troitsa, , "Fondovi Housing", "Banishora" and "Ilinden", reported "Toploficatsia - Sofia".

The reason, as usual, is prevention of problems.
