‘Antiquities doctors’ restore over 1,000 artifacts in country’s east
A regional laboratory in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, home of many different civilizations spanning thousands of years, has performed maintenance and repair works on approximately 1,252 artifacts in 2023 to shed light on cultural history and exhibit them in museums.
Earthquake zone ready for local polls, says watchdog head
Supreme Election Council (YSK) head Ahmet Yener has announced that preparations for the upcoming local elections in the earthquake-stricken region of southern Türkiye are complete.
"As of now, our schools and container areas are ready for the elections," Yener told the media in the earthquake-hit city of Diyarbakır on March 7.
Diyarbakır’s museum complex turns 90
The İçkale Museum Complex, located in the central Sur district of the eastern province of Diyarbakır, welcomed some 134,000 visitors last year.
The museum, which is home to works from 12,500-year-old artifacts, is preparing to celebrate 90 years of its foundation.
