National Audit Office to Inspect Management of Sofia Public Transport Co.

Bulgaria's National Audit Office will inspect the management of the Sofia Urban Mobility Centre, the municipal company operating public transport in the Bulgarian capital.

This was decided by the parliamentary budget and finance committee on Thursday, daily Dnevnik informs.

Bulgarian MPs Adopt Introduction of Compulsory Voting at First Reading

The Bulgarian parliament adopted at first reading on Thursday draft amendments to the Electoral Code, which pave the way for the introduction of compulsory voting.

The amendments were adopted with 121 MPs voting in favour, 27 being against and 21 lawmakers abstaining, daily Dnevnik informs.

New Station on Line 2 of Sofia Underground to be Opened on July 31

The Vitosha station on line 2 of the underground in the Bulgarian capital will be opened on July 31.

This was announced by the mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, who inspected the progress of construction of the new station on Tueday.

At present construction works have been completed at 75 %, daily Dnevnik informs.

Bulgarian Government Plans to Grant Pensioners BGN 50 M in Easter Bonuses

The Bulgarian government is planning to allocate BGN 50 M to pensioners in Easter bonuses.

This was announced by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov on Saturday, daily Dnevnik reports.

The bonuses will be allocated from the revenues collected in the fight against contraband.

DAB informed of this in an announcement addressed to potential donors made on its website, daily Dnevnik informs.

Suspicious Luggage Evacuates School in Sofia

The pupils at 134thschool Dimcho Debelyanov, located on Pirotska street in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, were evacuated on Tuesday morning due to the presence of a suspicious luggage left on the outside of the building.

Initially, the school day had been called off, but after the police check established no threats, the classes were resumed.
