Four Turkish nationals detained on Rhodes for unlicensed telecom work
Local authorities on the island of Rhodes in the southeastern Aegean detained four Turkish nationals on Wednesday for performing maintenance work at a mobile telecommunications company without the necessary permits. The individuals were employed by a company also owned by Turkish nationals, which specializes in such projects.
‘We have run out of lobsters’
"In Turkey we say, 'Tencere yuvarlanmis kapagini bulmus.' Don't you have the same proverb?" a woman from Kusadasi on Turkey's western Aegean coast, eating at the table next to ours on the island of Agathonisi asked the waiter, making a circle with her hand. "I bet she means 'Birds of a feather flock together,'" the Greek owner of the restaurant tells us.
He was right.

Wildfire breaks out in Rhodes
A wildfire broke out in the Lindos area of Rhodes on Tuesday, with residents receiving a 112 message to be on alert.
According to the fire department, 25 firefighters with six vehicles have been dispatched to the scene. In addition, three helicopters and one airplane are assisting from the air.

Boat explodes off Rhodes, five injured
An explosion occurred Sunday afternoon on a motorboat carrying six Italian nationals near Psaltos, Rhodes, injuring five of them.
The Coast Guard and private boats responded to the scene.
The injured passengers were evacuated to Agios Pavlos Bay and taken to a clinic, while the uninjured sixth passenger disembarked at Lindos Bay.

26 migrants rescued off Symi, one man arrested for trafficking
A 20-year-old male was arrested by the Symi Port Authority on Saturday for allegedly trafficking migrants into Greece.
Illegal immigrants swam from Turkey to Kos
There is a steady flow of illegal immigrants arriving on the country’s islands.
Yesterday morning, the Port Authority of Kos was informed by the Police Department of Kos that a person was swimming towards the Greek coast in the sea area “Lampi”.
The swimmer came ashore on his own and was taken to the General Hospital-Health Center of Kos for first aid and was discharged.

Weather: Strong wind in the east next weekend – Temperature rise from Friday
A slight drop in temperature in the east with a strong north wind is expected over the next two days, according to the director of the National Meteorological Service (NMS), Thodoros Kolydas.
At the same time, as he points out, from Friday (2/8) the winds will weaken and the temperature will rise.
