Why are China’s pole dancers being dragged like abused dogs? (photos)

China’s national pole dancers have been chained up in cages, pulled by the neck, dragged by vans and brutally treated as a form of protest against the country’s dog-eating culture. Each of the photos showing the abuse features a real-life photo showing how the dog had been treated along with captions such as “Please don’t abandon me” and “I don’t know what I’ve done wrong”.

A Scottish cyclist has won many hearts in Turkey after she interrupted her world tour to save an injured stray dog.

34-year-old sprint cyclist Ishbel Taromsari arrived in the western Turkish province of Balıkesir, four months after she left France for a world tour with her bicycle and only 3.5 British pounds per day for her expenses covered by a sponsor. 

Iran dog lovers face 74 lashes, fines under new law

Dog lovers in Iran could face up to 74 lashes under plans by hardline lawmakers that would ban keeping the pets at home or walking them in public.
      
A draft bill, signed by 32 members of the country's conservative-dominated parliament, would also authorise heavy fines for offenders, the reformist Shargh newspaper reported.
     

British man walks free after killing his dog in Bodrum

A British man in Bodrum who killed his dog by striking its head repeatedly, claiming that it was “old and would die soon anyway,” has been released after questioning.

The 48-year-old man, identified only as B.C., killed his dog “Kol” in the street as witnesses attempted to stop him. B.C. also allegedly attacked those who attempted to prevent him.

Volos man faces charges for killing dog with unlicensed gun

A 59-year-old man has been arrested and faces charges of animal cruelty and illegal weapon possession in Volos, central Greece, after allegedly killing a dog.

The suspect is said to have shot the dog with a hunting rifle for which he does not have a license.

No explanation was given as to why he killed the animal.
