Four local cases of West Nile virus infection in humans have been registered between June 7 - September 2, and one of the infected persons has died, the National Center for the Surveillance and Control of Communicable Diseases of the National Public Health Institute informs. The West Nile fatality is a 63-year-old man from Dolj County.

As many as 2,245 people in Romania have so far been confirmed as infected with the novel coronavirus, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), an official coronavirus communication task force, reported on Tuesday. Since the previous report, 293 new cases of illness have been recorded.
