French Bulldogs topple Labradors as most popular US breed

The lovable Labrador Retriever is no longer the most popular dog breed in the United States, as French Bulldogs take over the top spot, the American Kennel Club (AKC) announced on March 15.

Labs, which the New York-based registry describes as "famously friendly" and "an enthusiastic athlete," had been the most popular dog breed for 31 years prior to 2022.

Nearly 400,000 pets registered on PETVET system: Ministry

Nearly 400,000 pets from across the country were registered on a pet-tracking system called "PETVET" since the beginning of last year, according to a report by the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry.

According to a ministry report released recently, 162,075 cats, 231,685 dogs and 11 weasels were registered to the system since Jan. 1, 2021.

Pebbles, world’s oldest dog, dies at age 22

Pebbles, a Toy Fox Terrier that held the record as the world's oldest dog, died earlier this week at the age of 22, according to Guinness World Records.

Born on March 28, 2000, on Long Island, in New York state, the female terrier lived most of her life in to South Carolina, giving birth to 32 puppies over the years.
