Many respected historians and intellectuals have warned that, if past experience is any guide, the Greek crisis could evolve into something far worse than an economic disaster. I share their concerns. Greece is a bankrupt nation under foreign supervision. Its institutions are creaking and society has sunk into an ocean of cynicism and frustration. The Greek crisis is a systemic crisis.

Mocked for his tweets, Trump fires back on Twitter
President-elect Donald Trump sent a dismissive tweet in response to a comedy sketch that mocked his penchant for sending tweets.
Trump again lambasted the show "Saturday Night Live," on which he is played by actor Alec Baldwin.
But whereas on other occasions Trump has tweeted his criticism the next morning, this time he fired away before the show ended.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said Dec. 1 that he has picked the tough-talking retired general James Mattis to be his defense secretary as he kicked off his post-election "thank you tour" by railing against globalization, promising the return of manufacturing jobs to American workers, and vowing to shut U.S. borders to some Middle East migrants.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump says his country's will under his leadership "stop looking to topple regimes and overthrow governments."
Instead, the U.S. will "work with other countries that are fighting against terrorism."

Actually the term was first used by Serbian-American playwright Steve Tesich.
