A 16-year-old boy, Selamat Riayadi, has gotten married to his 71-year-old heartthrob, Rohaya, in Indonesia. The couple, who claim to be deeply in love, threatened to kill themselves if family members deterred them from getting married. Rohaya had been widowed twice before. No one knows the motivation behind the union, as both lovebirds are poor.

25 percent of child brides globally from Africa alone, says UNICEF

There are currently 125 million child brides in Africa alone, amounting to around 25 percent of total child brides across the globe, according to the United Nations children's fund (UNICEF). It also stated that this number is projected to more than double by 2050 if current trends continue.
