With Turkey facing severe drought conditions, dams in several major cities in the country are drying up at an alarming rate, widely affecting daily life and agriculture, officials and experts have warned.

Turkey has been going through the most severe period of drought in the last 10 years, and the measures and strategies to be taken will impact future generations, according to an expert.

Lake Marmara, a major bird sanctuary in the western province of Manisa, has dried up due to drought.

The lake offers shelter to some 20,000 waterfowls, including endangered bird species, such as cormorants and pelicans.
