Over 2 dozen detained in nationwide drug raids
Over two dozen people were detained and large amounts of drugs were seized in nationwide drug raids by Turkish police on Nov. 24, according to official statements.
A total of 13 kilograms of synthetic drugs were seized in the eastern province of Van, said local police.

Authorities see wide compliance with smoking law
High rates of compliance with the anti-smoking law continue to be recorded in restaurants and bars, according to the National Transparency Authority (EAD) and the Greek Police (ELAS).
More specifically, in the period between January 6 and 16, 86 percent of the 352 restaurants and bars that were inspected were found to be in compliance with the law.

Independent authority warns against creation of 'smokers clubs'
The National Transparency Authority shot down attempts to open "smokers clubs" across Greece, saying the law is clear about the universal ban of smoking and warning of repercussions if they flout it.
Citizens, businesses largely abiding by anti-smoking law
It was long in coming but widespread enforcement of the anti-smoking law now appears to be a reality in Greece.
The data collected jointly by the National Transparency Authority and Greek Police from inspections indicates that the overwhelming majority of citizens and businesses are complying with the law.
Police seize 225 kg of marijuana in SE Turkey
Turkish police on Dec. 24 seized kilograms (nearly 500 pounds) of marijuana from a truck in the country's southeast, according to a security source.
The drugs were seized in Gaziantep after anti-drug teams stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver in a sniffer dog-aided operation, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The Number of Men who Smoke is Falling
The World Health Organization (WHO) has noted turn to the fight against smoking - the number of male smokers is decreasing for the first time worldwide and is on the turn, BTA reports.
So far, the WHO has noted a regular increase in male smokers since recording their numbers over the past 20 years.

Drugs are being Distributed Online in the Form of Herbs, Tea and Bath Salts
The Interior Ministry monitors the internet to restrict the virtual sale of drugs, Interior Minister Mladen Marinov said. Marinov took part in Friday's parliamentary scrutiny, where he explained to lawmakers how his department handles increased drug distribution online.
