European Democracies ‘Under Strain’ Due to COVID-19: Report
The New York-based Freedom House watchdog organisation says in its latest annual report, published on Wednesday, that the COVID-19 pandemic has placed European democracies of all political types under "severe strain".

AHEPA condemns George Floyd killing, violence
The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) has condemned racial inequality in the United States following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, at the hands of police in Minneapolis last week.
In a statement, AHEPA supreme president George G. Horiates also condemned violence and destruction amid protests over the killing.

Greek American running for statewide office in Delaware
Greek American Spiros Mantzavinos is running for a statewide office in Delaware and is widely seen as the favorite.
The State Senate seat in Delaware's 7th District for which he is running as a Democrat has been labeled as one of the most flippable in the country. Registered voters for his party outnumber his opponent's by nearly two-to-one.
Brnabic Says Freedom House Report is “Biased” Against Serbia
Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has dismissed claims made in a report by the international watchdog organisation Freedom House that Serbia is no longer a true democracy.
Brnabic insisted that Serbia was the most democratic state in the Western Balkans, adding that other international and domestic organisations had not ranked Serbia in a "non-democratic" category.
2020 AHEPA convention cancelled due to coronavirus
The 98th AHEPA Family Supreme Convention of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (Order of AHEPA) has been cancelled due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the body's President George G. Horiates announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Olympia Group donates medical, tech equipment to fight Covid-19
The Olympia Group, founded by Panos Germanos, has donated medical and technological equipment valued at two million euros to the ministries of education and health, to assist in the fight against Covid-19.
The donation will be made through the Group's subsidiaries, Public- MediaMarkt and Sunlight.
