PPC cuts expenses, posts higher profit in H1 2023
Public Power Corporation (PPC), Greece's biggest power utility, announced a significant increase in first-half operating profit on Thursday because it spent much less on buying energy, especially natural gas, and on fines for carbon dioxide emissions.

Papoutsanis: Increase in profits and turnover in the first quarter
Papoutsanis pre-tax profits increased by 46% to 1.1 million euros in the first quarter of 2022, while turnover amounted to 14.9 million euros, an increase of 45% compared to the first quarter of 2021. Profits after taxes amounted to 0.8 million euros compared to 0.5 million euros in the corresponding period of 2021, showing an improvement of 40%.
Retailer Mercator rebounds from loss on slightly higher sales
Ljubljana – Mercator, Slovenia’s largest retailer, recovered from last year’s deep loss as it posted a net profit of EUR 12.6 million for the first nine months of the year. Sales revenue was up by almost a percent to EUR 1.63 billion, shows the group’s earnings report released on Thursday.
Steel group SIJ’s revenue up a third in first nine months
Ljubljana – Steel group SIJ increased its sales revenue by 34.2% to EUR 714.6 million in the first nine months of the year over the same period last year. Profit before tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) reached EUR 73.5 million, the company said on Monday.
Telekom Slovenije reports 31% higher Jan-Sep profit
Ljubljana – Slovenia’s telecoms group Telekom Slovenije reported EUR 486.8 million in net sales revenue for the first three quarters of the year, up by 1% on the same period a year ago. Net profit was up by 31% to EUR 35.9 million, although the company said the figure would have been 36% higher when taking into account one-off events in 2020.
Loulis Mills – Increase in sales in the first half – How prices of raw materials affected profits
Sales of 60.97 million euros, with an increase of 11.83% showed Loulis Mills at group level in the first half of this year compared to the first half of 2021, while at company level sales amounted to 54.25 million euros with an increase of 13%. Cost of sales increased by 17.63% for the group and by 19.09% for the company.
DARS revenue, profit up in first six months
Ljubljana – The National Motorway Company (DARS) generated EUR 218.8 million in revenue in the first six months of the year, which is 16% more than in the same period last year. Net profit was up 55% to EUR 43.9 million, according to the company’s unaudited report.

JYSK posts record-breaking results in Slovenia
Ljubljana/Aarhus – JYSK, the Danish home goods retail chain, reported record-breaking results in Slovenia in the financial year that ended in August despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Sales revenue was up by 6.6% to EUR 38.6 million, and operating profit rose by more than 20%.

Lamda Development’s malls post further profit increase
The shopping centers of Lamda Development - The Mall Athens, Golden Hall and Mediterranean Cosmos - have shown an increase in their operating profits for the seventh year in a row, Lamda announced on Tuesday.
Their 2019 earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounted to 64.3 million euros, up 8.6 percent from 2018.
