'I am still fine': New York rattled by small earthquake, aftershock

UN Security Council diplomats were shaken in their chairs, planes got briefly grounded, and furniture rattled across New York Friday when an earthquake jolted the city that never sleeps.

No one was hurt, though, and New York's iconic skyline remained intact.

"I AM FINE," reported the Empire State Building on its X account.

A pair of powerful earthquakes, registering magnitudes of 5.2 and 5.7, have struck Southwest Greece, sending tremors through the region and triggering concerns over potential damage. The seismic activity, reported by the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, rattled residents and raised alarm bells across affected areas.

4.7-magnitude quake recorded near Corfu

An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale was recorded on Friday morning off the coast of Corfu, in western Greece, the National Observatory of Athens Geodynamic Institute said. No injuries or damages were immediately reported.

The tremor was recorded at a depth of 9.2 kilometers in the sea area 25 km south-southwest of Othoni. 

It was preceded by a 3.5-magnitude quake.
