Ebola fighters named Time Person of the Year

Doctors, nurses and others fighting Ebola through "tireless acts of courage and mercy" have been named Time's 2014 Person of the Year, the magazine announced Dec. 10.

The runners-up included Ferguson, Missouri, protesters; Russian President Vladimir Putin; Kurdish Regional Government President Massoud Barzani; and Jack Ma, the China-based founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba.

Sofia Patient with 'Ebola' Symptoms Infected with Malaria

The 57-year-old patient hospitalized with symptoms resembling those of Ebola on Thursday evening has falciparum malaria, medical officials say.

His diagnosis was announced by doctors at the Military Hospital, cited by private national broadcaster bTV, after results of his blood test had been ready.
