The Turkish government donated $1 million April 13 in support of anti-Ebola measures undertaken by the African Union (AU) Commission in the afflicted countries of Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.

The latest in a string of candidate vaccines against the deadly Ebola virus was proven safe in an early trial in healthy adults in China, its developers said Wednesday.
      
But while it triggered an antibody response in test subjects, further trials must be held to establish whether the drug actually protects against Ebola, they said.
      

A year after the formal announcement of the spread of Ebola by the WHO, at least 24,000 people were infected and more than 10,000 lost their lives.

The desease has already killed 10,000 people.

The test has been developed by a US company, and despite not being as accurate as more detailed examinations, but is much easier and faster to execute, as reported by Reuters.

Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf announced the lifting of the 21:00-06:00 curfew and the opening of all borders, as the Ebola pandemic has settled down. The Liberian Minister of Health will take all necessary measures to prevent any further spread of the pandemic.

Ebola-hit Sierre Leone and Guinea saw an increase in the last week in unsafe burials that risk spreading the disease, the World Health Organization reported.        

The US military plans to pull out most troops from West Africa that were deployed to help stem the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus, the Pentagon said on Feb. 10, ending a five-month mission.
