Serbian January average net monthly wage at 82,769 dinars
BELGRADE - The Serbian average net monthly wage in January was 82,769 dinars, according to figures released by the national statistical office RZS.
The average gross wage was 114,228 dinars.
Compared to 2022, average gross and net wages in January were up by 16.7 pct in nominal terms and by 0.8 pct in real terms.
Short-term external debt rises
Türkiye's short-term external debt increased by 3.5 percent from December 2022 to reach $152.8 billion in January, the Central Bank has said.
Banks' short-term external debt stock rose by 4.6 percent to $62.9 billion, while other sectors' stock increased by 2.8 percent to $56.2 billion, data showed on March 17.

Serbia registers 6.1 bln euro budget surplus in January
BELGRADE - Serbia registered a 6.1 bln dinar budget surplus in January 2023, the Ministry of Finance has announced.
Revenues totalled 150.3 bln dinars, while expenditures amounted to 136 bln dinars.
Brnabic: Serbian 2022 ICT exports up 45 pct relative to 2021
BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Thursday the country's ICT exports had totalled 2.692 bln euros in 2022, rising by 45 pct relative to 2021.
"Excellent news for Serbia: our ICT sector exports in 2022 according to official figures: 2.692 bln euros (45 pct growth relative to 2021)!" Brnabic wrote in a Twitter post.
UN forecasts decrease in global economic growth to 1.9 percent

The United Nations has forecast that global economic growth will fall significantly to 1.9 percent this year as a result of the food and energy crisis sparked by the war in Ukraine, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, persistently high inflation and the climate emergency.
China imports, exports plunged in December
China's exports in December 2022 fell at their fastest pace since 2020, according to official figures released on Jan. 13, owing to a drop in global demand and after health restrictions hit the economy hard.

Retail sales grow more than 12 percent
The retail sales volume index rose by 12.1 percent in November 2022 from a year ago, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have shown.
Food, beverages and tobacco product sales increased by 5.7 percent on an annual basis, while non-food retail sales exhibited a yearly rise of 17.7 percent.
Automotive fuel sales were up 4 percent.

Traffic accident near Tripoli results in one death
A 22-year-old man died in a traffic accident near Tripoli in the early hours of Sunday morning. According to the police, the car collided with an outer fence of a nearby house.
The accident also left one 21-year-old passenger injured.
The Tripoli traffic police are conducting an investigation into the incident.

Automotive industry targets $34 billion in exports this year
Türkiye's automotive industry aims to generate $34 billion in export revenues this year, the Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OİB) has said.
"Despite the economic slowdown in Europe, our largest export market, and changes in demand conditions, we managed to increase our export revenues both in December and the whole of 2022," said Baran Çelik, president of the OİB.
Serbian public debt at 32.29 bln euros at end-November
BELGRADE - Serbia's public debt totalled 32.29 bln euros at the end of November 2022, accounting for 53.5 pct of gross GDP, according to figures released by the Ministry of Finance.
In the period between January and November, the budget deficit stood at 81 bln dinars, with revenues totalling 1,519.1 bln dinars and expenditures at 1,600.1 bln.
