Exports fell 17 percent to $19.3 billion in April: Data

Exports declined by 17.1 percent in April from a year ago to $19.3 billion, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have shown.

Imports were down 4.8 percent last month compared with April 2022 to $28 billion.

The foreign trade deficit, consequently, widened 42.1 percent on an annual basis to $8.74 billion.

Serbian public debt at 50.2 pct of GDP at end-January

BELGRADE - Serbia's public debt accounted for 50.2 pct of the national GDP at the end of January 2023, compared to 55.1 pct at the end of December 2022, the Ministry of Finance has said.

The end-January public debt stood at 34.3 bln euros, with direct liabilities totalling 32.7 bln.

The external direct debt amounted to 22 bln euros, with the internal debt at 10.7 bln.

Financial Administration boosting cooperation with Bosnian tax authorities

Banja Luka – Ivan Simič, the acting director of Slovenia’s Financial Administration (FURS), signed a cooperation agreement with Goran Maričić, director of Tax Authority of Republika Srpska, in Banja Luka on Thursday. He also discussed closer cooperation with Miro Džakula, director of the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Bosnia Entity Halts Projects With China Over Coronavirus Fears

The Serb-led entity in Bosnia, Republika Srpska, has halted all projects being implemented with Chinese companies owing to concerns about the possible spread of the coronavirus.

Milorad Dodik, Serbian member of the Bosnian Presidency, announced the move on Sunday to Serbian television Pink, noting the potential economic consequences of the continued spread of the virus.

Coca-Cola to Acquire Banja Luka Drinks Company

Global drinks giant Coca-Cola is planning to buy MB Impex, a beverage producer from the Banja Luka, capital of the mainly Serbian entity in Bosnia, Republika Srpska.

Bosnia's Council for Competition on Tuesday said it had received notification from Coca-Cola's Serbian subsidiary, HBC-Serbia, on July 14, in which it outlined the plan to acquire MB Impex.

Plight of Bosnia's Public Broadcaster Causes Alarm

Bosnia's main broadcaster BHRT may close down altogether, experts and journalists warn, as the financial woes that have plagued the broadcaster for years already continue to worsen.

BHRT director Belmin Karamehmedovic told local news portal Klix on Wednesday that because of rapidly falling revenues, staff now have no health insurance, and their salaries are being paid late.
