Athens bourse posts significant losses after holiday break

The Greek bourse reopened on Tuesday after the four-day Orthodox Easter break and posted significant losses at the end of the session as the uncertainty over the negotiations between Athens and its creditors and the storm of scenarios regarding a Greek default created concern among investors regarding the future of the economy.

Two sets of Aegean flights to Paris cancelled

Aegean Airlines on Wednesday announced the cancellation of two sets of flights between Athens and Paris on Thursday due to a strike by French air-traffic controllers.

The flights that are being canceled are A3 610 from Athens to Paris, A3 611 from Paris to Athens, A3 612 from Athens to Paris and A3 613 from Paris to Athens.

Small gains on low turnover in Athens bourse

The Athens stock market reopened on Tuesday after a four-day break, making moderate gains on particularly low turnover as traders are expecting the results of Wednesday?s Euro Working Group meeting as well as the outcome of the prime minister?s visit to Moscow.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 777.47 points, adding 0.80 percent to Thursday?s 771.32 points.

Fitch downgrades Greek banks

Fitch Ratings piled on the recent bad news for the Greek economy this week by downgrading Greece's systemic banks, including the market leader National Bank of Greece.

The move comes after a March 27 decision by the same ratings company to downgrade the country's sovereign rating.

Athens bourse to reopen Tuesday after European holidays

The Greek stock market will open on Tuesday after a four-day recess due to the holidays for most bourses in the European Union.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index will resume from 771.32 points, which it closed at last Thursday, in this three-day trading week, as the market will be closed on Good Friday.
