Turkey's central government gross debt stock at $234 bln

The Turkish central government's gross debt stock totaled 2.02 trillion Turkish liras (around $234.3 billion) at the end of June, according to official figures released on July 26. 

The gross debt stock includes the outstanding debt of public sector institutions, the Central Bank, private companies, and households.

Special communication tax increased 33 percent

The special communication tax (SCT), which is applied on mobile voice, messaging, internet and cable TV services, has been increased from 7.5 percent to 10 percent, according to a presidential decree published on the Official Gazette.

Turkey collected 4.48 billion Turkish Liras ($640.22 million) in SCT last year, 356,000 liras more than it predicted in September 2020.

Turkey removes 3 foreign banks' FX transactions ban

Turkey on May 11 removed foreign exchange transactions bans with Turkish lira for three foreign banks -- BNP Paribas, Citibank, and UBS.

After banks fulfilled their Turkish lira commitments, the restrictions were removed, according to the information given by Turkey's Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK).
