Historical Turkish banknote up for sale
A first-emission 1,000 Turkish Lira banknote which was printed in the U.K. in 1927 was put up for sale at an online auction with an opening price of 800,000 Turkish Liras (nearly 60,000 dollars).
The banknote features a portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of modern Turkey, on the front and an image of the Geyve strait section of the Sakarya railway line on the other side.

Turkey’s central government gross debt stock at $200 bln in October
Turkish central government's gross debt stock totaled almost 2.27 trillion Turkish liras ($200 billion) at the end of October, official figures showed on Nov. 22.
The Treasury and Finance Ministry's data showed that the figure was up 4.1% from the previous month.
Turkish Treasury posts $540 mln cash deficit in October
The Turkish Treasury's cash balance posted a deficit of 5.24 billion Turkish liras ($540 million) last month, according to official figures revealed on Nov. 5.
In October, Treasury's cash revenues totaled 123.7 billion Turkish liras ($12.76 billion), the Treasury and Finance Ministry said.

Turkey's central government gross debt stock at $234 bln
The Turkish central government's gross debt stock totaled 2.02 trillion Turkish liras (around $234.3 billion) at the end of June, according to official figures released on July 26.
The gross debt stock includes the outstanding debt of public sector institutions, the Central Bank, private companies, and households.
New printings of Turkish lira banknotes set for release
Newly printed 200 Turkish lira and 10 Turkish lira banknotes will go into circulation on July 16, ahead of next week's Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of the Sacrifice, said an official announcement.

Turkish lira hits highest value against US dollar in 6 months
The Turkish lira has continued its rally against the U.S. dollar on Feb. 15, hitting the highest value in the last six months, thanks to the country's pledge to open a new era in its economy.
Special communication tax increased 33 percent
The special communication tax (SCT), which is applied on mobile voice, messaging, internet and cable TV services, has been increased from 7.5 percent to 10 percent, according to a presidential decree published on the Official Gazette.
Turkey collected 4.48 billion Turkish Liras ($640.22 million) in SCT last year, 356,000 liras more than it predicted in September 2020.
